Heat stress in the workplace can occur as a result of many factors. Naturally, direct exposure to the hot Australian sun is a major factor but the workplace environment, the work undertaken and work practices are all important factors as well. Working indoors or outdoors in intense heat can cause heat related illnesses and fatigue which can impair thinking and reaction times and lead to worker injury. Heat stress needs to be monitored and prevented as part of your overall WHS management plan.
